We are nearly half way through our February Charity Challenge and its fair to say that it has really Taken Off. Between the three clubs we have around 180 riders contributing their meters to the total and we are already well on our way past the International Space Station, 22o miles above the Earth. WOW!! How far will we eventually go?? Who knows, but the more people we can get on board the better so lets hit the boosters, fire up the rockets and reach for the Stars.
Don't forget that the Charity Challenge is about 2 things really - meter munching and raising funds for the Jessie May Trust.
If you haven't already made a donation as part of your contribution to our Challenge please do so here
Every penny we can raise will make a massive difference to the Trust's ability to help children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We're already well on our way to our £2000 target thanks to everyone across PCC, CDRC and BSCC for your generosity so far.
BIG NEWS! Next on our packed agenda is a very special event with a cycling Star!
Via Zoom on Friday 17th Feb at 7:30pm we will be hosting a talk from Brian Cookson OBE, Past President of British Cycling (1997 - 2013) and Past President cycling's world governing body UCI (2013 - 2017). Brian has been at the helm of UK and World Cycling through hugely significant periods of the sport's history both at home and abroad. Its sure to be a fascinating hour of his time which he has donated to us to help our fund raising cause.
Here is a link to Brian's Bio which is well worth a read in advance of the show.
We will have 100 spaces available on the Zoom call and we will record it for anyone that isn't quick enough on the draw before the capacity is reached or can't be there live.
If you are not participating in the main cycling challenge but would like to log on to hear from Brian we would appreciate a donation to help the cause.
After show party and raffle!
To mark the end of the Charity Challenge we have booked The Poacher in Portishead for an aftershow party and raffle on Friday 3rd March. You can book onto the event through the website where you can also buy raffle tickets at £5 per ticket. There will be medals, loads of raffle prizes so it would be great to see a big turn out.
